Center for Microscopy and Image Analysis

Consulting in Image and Data Analysis

Aim

The aim of our consulting is to enable the users of the Center for Microscopy and Image Analysis to solve their image processing challenges. We will guide you on how to correctly apply tools and outline possible image processing pipelines and solutions. Additionally, we can help in evaluating data quality, proper statistics and necessary controls.

Requirements

  • You are a registered user of the ZMB.
  • It is helpful to make yourself familiar with our virtualized infrastructure and try to work on the data with the available tools before coming for a consulting.
  •  Due to the limited resources and to give you the best possible support, we prioritize supporting users who work on data acquired on the ZMB microscopes.

For some frequently requested image analysis tasks, we also have easy to understand manuals and hands-on tutorials in the Tutorials and Resources section.

Who

All staff member of the ZMB can show our users how to access the virtual infrastructure and support on how to process and visualize imaging data. For more complex requests our image processing and data analysis specialists  Joana Delgado Martins and Urs Ziegler can further support the users.

Data

to get the most out of a consulting session, it is helpful to have a few representative raw microscope datasets. We recommend to copy them to the ZMB transfer folder prior to an appointment.

Tools

At the ZMB we use and deploy open source as well as commercial tools for image processing and data analysis. It is our philosophy to always use the most simple, accessible and easy to learn tool for performing a certain image analysis task. Check available software in our virtual infrastructure here
