Electrophoretic Tissue Clearing System - X-Clarity (Irchel)
The X-CLARITYTM Electrophoretic Tissue Clearing System is used for rendering tissues and organs optically transparent in minimal time.
In order to achieve transparency, samples fixed with formaldehyde are embedded in acrylamide gel to covalently link biomolecules into sturdy hydrogel network. Lipid bilayers, a major cause of tissue opacity, are broken up and removed through electrophoresis in the presence of ionic detergents.
The X-CLARITY system is designed to generate a dense uniform electric field. A timer, temperature sensor and a buffer circulation pump are added for the precise control of clearing conditions.
X-CLARITY tissue processing conserves fluorescence of genetically encoded proteins such as eGFP, tdTomato etc. and is compatible with further immunostaining.
