Reservation of virtual machines and dedicated software
To ensure the availability of resources and to enforce a fair usage policy, the virtual machines have to be booked over our reservation system.
Usage of an unreserved virtual machine will result in a forced log-off without warning and repeated abuse may have further consequences.
Identical named virtual machines are also identical in terms of available software and hardware resources.
Booking of an additional accessory is necessary for software with limited licences, an can be found on our software list. You will be guided in how to activate this resource once you log in to the corresponding virtual machine.

Forced log-off policies
To ensure a fair usage of our infrastructure you are automatically logged off after long periods of no user interaction.
We recommend that you reconnect to your session once a day to ensure that your session is not terminated when you perform long-term processing.
Unsaved data will be lost in case of automatic log-off!
Downtimes/maintenance tasks
VMs are not available between 20:00 - 23:59 GMT the first Sunday of each month to allow operating systems and software maintenance.
Please make sure you do not schedule long data processing on this time to avoid loss of data.
Irregular maintenance can also take place during normal business hours, but those will be visible in the booking system beforehand.
Unsaved data will be lost in case of automatic log-off!
